Key Considerations
- Directionality: These converters are not bidirectional. A "VGA to HDMI" adapter will only work if the computer has the VGA port and the screen has the HDMI port. If your situation is the opposite (HDMI computer to VGA monitor), you specifically need an HDMI to VGA converter.
- Audio Support: Because standard VGA only carries video, most converters include a 3.5mm audio jack or a USB cable to "inject" sound into the HDMI signal.
- Power Requirements: Most converters require external power to function, typically provided via a Micro USB cable plugged into a USB port on your computer.
- Resolution: Most standard converters support up to 1080p (Full HD) at 60Hz. Higher resolutions like 4K are generally not supported by standard VGA signals.

A VGA to HDMI converter is a device used to connect an older computer or device with a VGA output to a modern monitor, TV, or projector that only has an HDMI input. It performs an active signal conversion, turning the analog video signal from the VGA port into the digital signal required by HDMI.
